Spirituality speaks to how we understand and connect with God at work in the world and within us. There are many different ways that we live out our spirituality and the Modesto Church of the Brethren offers several ways for people to deepen that connection. The links above will connect you with information about some of the opportunities for growing in your relationship with God and others. The small groups described below offer opportunities for fellowship with others.

The Knitting Ministry meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 1:30pm to 3:00pm. Contact the church office for location. You will have to call for date as it is not consistant. We make prayer shawls, caps and sweaters for kids in need as well as items for our families. We are learning knitting can be a time of quiet prayer and meditation as well as a time to produce fine articles. At our gatherings there are always have a couple of readings relating to knitting and spirituality and faith. Prayer shawls are knit and given to someone dealing illness, grief, difficult situations, or just as a way to say thanks to someone. Blessing the prayer shawls before they are delivered is a very special time for those attending. Call Luella at 209-402-2915 if you have questions or need more information.

There are two men’s groups which meet separately where newcomers are welcome:

The Saturday Morning Men’s Group meets the first and third Saturdays of each month at the church from 8:30am-9:30am.

The Tuesday Morning Men’s Group meets at Denny’s Restaurant on McHenry & Orangeburg in Modesto the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:00am.  For more information or to confirm a meeting, call the office @ (209)523-1438.

Youth Meetings – for 7th to 12th grades.
Youth group meets twice a month following church! To get involved with the youth group and meet some new friends contact Josh Gilstrap-Katen at the church number.

Prospectors –

This is a group of folks that meet about once a month for fellowship.  Usually, there is a potluck lunch after church, held in someone’s home or backyard.  Prospectors are generally in the age range of late 60s to early 70s, both couples and singles.  Newcomers are welcome!  Contact Margaret Johnson @ (209)522-0746.
