Quiet Place Events

Come to the Quiet Place (room 5) and partake in a series of evenings that focus on reflection, prayer and sharing with others.  These are great opportunities for spiritual growth and to be in community with others.  These events will occur on Monday nights at 7:00pm once a month.  Topics and dates are as follows:

March 15th – Holding On and Letting Go…Making Time for Lent

Lent is a time for going inward to ponder life, faith, and our discipleship.  Our theme this year is Holding on and Letting go, and during lent we will be invited to explore what we may need to hold on to and what we may need to let go of, especially where our spiritual life is concerned.  Some things we might let go of are fear, pride, control…Some things we may want to hold on to are ways we connect with the Spirit of God, the wisdom of the scriptures, belonging to a faith community.  What do you need to let go of and hold closer to?

April 19th – Spring…Possibilities for New Life

With Easter just 2 weeks ago, themes of new life and resurrection are among us.  The story of Lazarus bursting from the tomb is fresh.  Spring will be bursting forth as well.  What newness might God be inviting you into right now?  What tomb might you need to burst forth from?  Take the time to explore these ideals through poetry, scripture, prayer and more in community with others.

May 17th – Queen Vashti – A Model for Courage

Many have heard of Esther, but often not Queen Vashti.  But Vashti’s bold actions in the first verses challenge us to bold living, both each day and as we experience places of injustice.  Come explore the story of Vashti as a take off point to ponder courage, justice and peace.  How can Vashti inspire us as we live?  Where and how do we pray for courage?
