Spirituality

Spirituality speaks to how we understand and connect with God at work in the world and within us. There are many different ways that we live out our spirituality and the Modesto Church of the Brethren offers several ways for people to deepen that connection. The links above will connect you with information about some of the opportunities for growing in your relationship with God and others.

The Knitting Ministry meets twice a month on a Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Mary Baucher’s home. You will have to call for date as it is not consistant. We make prayer shawls, caps and sweaters for kids in need as well as items for our families. We are learning knitting can be a time of quiet prayer and meditation as well as a time to produce fine articles. At our gatherings there are always have a couple of readings relating to knitting and spirituality and faith. Prayer shawls are knit and given to someone dealing illness, grief, difficult situations, or just as a way to say thanks to someone. Blessing the prayer shawls before they are delivered is a very special time for those attending. Call Mary at 523-5178 if you have questions or need more information.

There are two men’s groups which meet separately where newcomers are welcome:

The Satruday Morning Men’s Group meets the first and third Saturdays of each month at the church from 8:30am-9:30am.

The Thursday Morning Men’s Group meets at Denny’s Restaurant on McHenry & Orangeburg in Modesto the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 6:00am.  For more information or to confirm a meeting, call the office @ (209)523-1438.
