Nutrition for a New You

Speaker Linda Smith of Doctor’s Hospital will share some tips on nutrition for a new you. This free and open seminar will be discuss the drive behind why we choose to eat what we do and teach us how to change that.
Held at the Modesto Church of the Brethren on Saturday Feb. 5th from 10:00am-12:00pm.

Listening Session for the District Special Response Hearing

As follow up to conversations held in the Fall of 2010 surrounding a query from Annual Conference regarding homosexuality, all participants in churches within the Pacific Southwest District of the Church of the Brethren are now invited to attend a District Listening Session at our church, The Modesto Church of the Brethren, to be held Sunday, January 16th from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Feedback from this event will be sent to the Standing Committee of the denomination, who will then use feedback from all district listening sessions to render a recommendation regarding the query to the next Annual Conference in June of 2011.

Leadership Retreat

Are you part of the church leadership in 2012? Come attend your first commission meeting of the year with fellow commission memebers, deacons and officers. A light breakfast will be served.
Meet in the Gathering Place at 8:30am.
Christmas Caroling

Join us in caroling to our members and folks that cannot come to a service this year! We will meet at the church for dinner at 6:00pm and meet in the Narthex of the Modesto Church of the Brethren at 6:30pm. Lyrics to well known carols will be distributed and you can plan on heading back to the church about 7:30pm-8:00pm to head home.
Children’s Christmas Production

Watch our youth put on the Christmas play! This years play is Matt & Lucy’s Version Birth’s.
The production will be in the Sanctuary on Dec. 19th @ 11:00am.
Church Fall Work Day

You supply the labor, we’ll supply the donuts! Come to the church to help get the church ready for the winter season and other tasks in need of attention. Bring your tools if you have them and get ready to get dirty! Focus will be on Tree Trimming and cleaning gutters.

9th & D Shelter Dinner Service starts

As part of our community outreach support, we provide dinner to the Salvation Army Homeless Shelter at 9th & D Streets in Modesto dinner on Wednesday nights from November through April.
Shelter service begins November 10th and sign ups are available through the church office or at dinner Wednesday nights at 6:00pm. We meet to serve at 6:30pm in the church Kitchen. Questions? Call the office @ (209)523-1438.
